Organizing accessible meetings
Backup plan
If a major barrier occurs with your original venue due to accessibility, weather crisis, unexpected conflicts, cost, or other issues, is your backup plan to:
- Change the venue?
- Move the event online?
- Postpone the event?
- Something else?


Plan for alternatives
The solution may change depending on the type of barrier encountered, but it may be good to discuss alternatives with your planning committee before barriers are encountered so they know what to expect. Also, consider possible ‘deal breakers’ for planning committee members. These may change depending on the resources of your community.
- Not all buildings may be completely accessible.
- May have to make tradeoffs with the cost of space and size or location.
- Not all stakeholders may be able to make it depending on the event date, which may include some planning committee members depending on personal schedules.
