Being open to what comes to you

Sometimes opportunities arise unexpectedly, don’t dismiss these just because the timing might be wrong.

For instance, in Southeast Georgia, CIL Assistant Director Christina Holtzclaw found out about an opportunity to have the CIL be part of a mural project featuring nonprofits by starting a conversation with a rural Chamber of Commerce. Nothing might come of it right away, but she calls these “half-baked ideas” that she keeps in mind as she continues to work towards better serving rural consumers. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we can practice “shifting nimbly” in the face of uncertainty. Staying open to novel opportunities will help you develop this important skill.
